What is Certify Academy?

Certify Academy is Certify's free learning site. It teaches you how digital badges and verifiable credentials work, how to design a badge programme and how to launch it. Every module ends with a short quiz, and passing it earns you a real Certify badge.

Who it is for

Anyone aged 16 or over can join. It is especially useful if you are:

• planning a badge or certificate programme for your organisation
• already issuing credentials with Certify and want to get more out of them
• simply curious about how digital badges work and why people trust them

You do not need a Certify plan or an issuer account. The Academy has its own free sign up, and it takes about a minute. See How do I sign up and sign in to Certify Academy?

The course

The first course is the Digital Badge Practitioner pathway. It takes about 3.5 hours in total, and you can work through it at your own pace.

1. Digital badge foundations: what a digital badge is, what sits inside one, and how badges compare with certificates and micro-credentials.
2. Designing a badge programme: choosing what to recognise, writing criteria people trust, and shaping levels, names and governance.
3. Launching and growing your programme: issuing, getting badges accepted and shared, measuring results, and privacy (UK GDPR and LGPD).
4. Final project: your own badge programme proposal.

Each module has short reading lessons, a practical task and a quiz. In Portuguese, the same course is called Praticante em Badges Digitais.

What you earn

• a Certify badge for every module you pass
• a certificate when you complete the whole pathway, including the final project

Is it a formal qualification?

No. An Academy credential shows that you completed a Certify course. It is not a qualification regulated by a government or awarding body, and it does not carry CPD recognition unless a course says so.
