Issue credentials from Thinkific with Zapier

Use the ready-made Zapier template to issue a Certify badge or certificate when a student completes a Thinkific course.

Last updated 18 October 2026

When a student completes a course in Thinkific, Certify can issue their badge or certificate automatically, using a ready-made template on Zapier. It needs no code.

You need a Certify Advanced or Premium plan with your credential set up, a Zapier account and admin access to your Thinkific site. The free Zapier plan runs this template.

Set it up

  1. Open the template Issue Certify credentials for new Thinkific course completions on Zapier, choose Try it and sign in.
  2. Connect your Thinkific site.
  3. In the Course Completed trigger, choose the course if you want this Zap to cover one course only.
  4. Connect Certify with an access token from Settings > API in Certify. Issue credentials automatically with Zapier shows how.
  5. In Issue Credential, choose the credential for the course and check the fields below.
  6. Test with a test student or yourself, then publish the Zap.

Fields to map

| Certify field | From Thinkific | |---|---| | Recipient Email | The student's email | | First Name and Last Name | The student's first and last name. Thinkific sends them separately, so use these two fields rather than Full Name. | | Completion Date | The date the course was completed |

Good to know

  • One Zap per course is simplest. Set the course in the trigger and choose that course's credential in Certify. Repeat for each course.
  • Lesson Completed suits milestones, not whole courses. It fires as students complete lessons, so use it only for a badge part-way through a longer course. Certify never issues the same credential twice, so repeat lessons don't create duplicates.
  • Revoke when a subscription ends. For credentials that depend on an active subscription, a second Zap with Thinkific's Subscription Cancelled trigger and Certify's Revoke Credential action expires the credential. Its verification page then shows it as expired.

For every Certify field, duplicates, expiry dates and troubleshooting, see Issue credentials automatically with Zapier.
