Issue credentials from Teachable with Zapier

Use the ready-made Zapier template to issue a Certify badge or certificate when a student completes a Teachable course.

Last updated 18 October 2026

When a student completes a course in Teachable, Certify can issue their badge or certificate automatically, using a ready-made template on Zapier. It needs no code.

You need a Certify Advanced or Premium plan with your credential set up, a Zapier account and admin access to your Teachable school. The free Zapier plan runs this template.

Set it up

  1. Open the template Issue Certify credentials for new Teachable course completions on Zapier, choose Try it and sign in.
  2. Connect your Teachable school.
  3. Connect Certify with an access token from Settings > API in Certify. Issue credentials automatically with Zapier shows how.
  4. In Issue Credential, choose the credential for the course and check the fields below.
  5. Test with a test student or yourself, then publish the Zap.

Fields to map

| Certify field | From Teachable | |---|---| | Recipient Email | The student's email | | Full Name | The student's name | | Completion Date | The date the course was completed |

Good to know

  • Course Completed fires at 100%. Teachable's Zapier app describes it as firing when a student completes 100% of a course. If you ever see a run for a student who hasn't finished, add a Filter before Certify that only continues when the percentage complete is 100 (filters need a paid Zapier plan).
  • Use Course Completed, not Lecture Completed. Lecture Completed fires for every lecture, so it only suits small milestone badges.
  • Several courses? Each Zap issues one credential. Create one Zap per course, or use Zapier's paths to choose the credential by course name (a paid Zapier plan).
  • Passing an assessment. To issue only when a student passes, use Teachable's New Graded Quiz Result trigger with a Filter on the result (a paid Zapier plan).
  • Refunds. A second Zap with Teachable's Transaction Refunded trigger and Certify's Revoke Credential action expires the credential if a student is refunded. Nothing is deleted.

For every Certify field, duplicates, expiry dates and troubleshooting, see Issue credentials automatically with Zapier.
