Issue credentials from TalentLMS with Zapier

Use the ready-made Zapier template to issue a Certify badge or certificate when a learner completes a TalentLMS course.

Last updated 18 October 2026

When a learner completes a course in TalentLMS, Certify can issue their badge or certificate automatically, using a ready-made template on Zapier. It needs no code.

You need a Certify Advanced or Premium plan with your credential set up, a Zapier account and admin access to your TalentLMS account. The free Zapier plan runs this template.

Set it up

  1. Open the template Issue Certify credentials for new TalentLMS course completions on Zapier, choose Try it and sign in.
  2. Connect your TalentLMS account.
  3. In the New Event trigger, check the event type is the one for a user completing a course.
  4. Connect Certify with an access token from Settings > API in Certify. Issue credentials automatically with Zapier shows how.
  5. In Issue Credential, choose the credential for the course and check the fields below.
  6. Test with a test learner or yourself, then publish the Zap.

Fields to map

| Certify field | From TalentLMS | |---|---| | Recipient Email | The learner's email | | Full Name, or First Name and Last Name | The learner's name, in whichever form TalentLMS sends it | | Completion Date | The time of the event |

Good to know

  • Expect a short delay. TalentLMS's triggers are polling triggers: Zapier checks for new events on a schedule, every 15 minutes on Zapier's free plan and more often on paid plans. A credential can take up to that long to arrive.
  • Several courses? Each Zap issues one credential. Create one Zap per course, or use Zapier's paths to choose the credential by course name (a paid Zapier plan).
  • Compliance training. Give the credential an expiry date in Certify so it stops showing as current when refresher training is due. To move the dates on when a learner completes the refresher, turn on Update If Already Issued in Issue Credential. Changing an expiry date on an existing credential uses a credit.

For every Certify field, duplicates, expiry dates and troubleshooting, see Issue credentials automatically with Zapier.
